I am currently a 5th-year Computer Science major that transfer from Imperial Valley Community College. I was able to succeed in my transition into UCR by using all the resources provided by the university such as SI, office hour, and TTP.  Through my experience here at UCR I was able to transition from Java to C++, create a messenger app using android studio, and program .atmega microchips. With the guidance of my mentors and professor, I was able to learn HTML, CSS, Javascript, and Python and create my own project to present for future interviews. I currently participate in a research program partner with UC Riverside and Riverside Unified School District conducted by Dr. Paea LePendu called Data Science Academy. We meet one Saturday per month to teach high schools students Data Science techniques by learning to program, creating projects and playing with data. I am grateful for all the opportunities which UCR has provided me and all my peers that help me throughout my first year.  With the help of the faculty and its resources, I was able to secure my first research job and have the opportunity to inspire high school students to become future engineers. TTP offered me an environment where I can meet and interact with students who have the same background as me and helped me with my transition into the quarter system. TTP also gave me the opportunity to become a mentor and be able to inspire future transfer students just like my mentors inspired me.
