I am a senior majoring in mechanical engineering. I transferred from Riverside City College, RCC. Engineering wasn’t always a clear path for me.  After high school, I initially thought I wanted to go into medicine, but I slowly realized that I did not want to pursue medicine, so I decided to go to RCC to figure out what I wanted to pursue. At RCC, I discovered my passion was in engineering. While attending RCC, I completed my associates degree in Automotive Mechanical and Electrical. Automotive helped me discover engineering and the different industries it had to offer. At UCR I am part of Puente, Hermanos Unidos, and I helped cofound an organization Underground Scholars Initiative, USI. USI is an organization that creates a pathway for formerly incarcerated and system impacted individuals into higher education. I previously had an internship with Martinez and Turek, M&T, in Rialto, CA. M&T is a company that designs large tooling for aerospace companies. Upon graduation, I plan on pursuing a career in fire protection engineering.
